Reynold Martin Schmitt, born October 16, 1937, a loving husband and father, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Friday, June 13, 2025. Reynold was a devoted spouse to Florence Schmitt for 63 years and a loving father to Randy (Julie) Schmitt, and Roxanne (Mark) Potjer. He also had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved and admired his loving nature. Reynold was a lifelong member of their church, a pillar to the deaf community, always ready and willing to share his faith to anyone who met him. He was a very talented finish carpenter who helped many people in their community see their visions come to reality in the custom homes he helped build. After retirement, he went to "work" in his workshop, creating the most beautiful woodworking keepsakes for all of his family and friends to cherish. Reynold was a true role model, inspiring his family and friends with his unwavering faith in God, his great sense of humor, and best of all, the best bear hugs ever, to make you feel warm and loved. A Celebration of Life visitation will be held at Plainfield Baptist Church, 1750 Woodworth St. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525, from 11 AM - 3 PM on Saturday, September 27, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Faith Hospice or Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services of Michigan. "Reynold will be deeply missed, but his memory lives on in every "bear hug" you pass along." |
