Elaine F. (Holwerda) Helmus, age 93, of Holland, MI went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.  Elaine and her late husband, Sidney, were faithful followers of Jesus.  They served the Christian Reformed Church in Honduras for about 15 years and hosted work teams and supported missionaries there.  They also worked with Luke Society, furthering that ministry for many years.  Elaine was a longtime resident at Holland Home Breton Woods.  She is lovingly remembered by her children, Jane (Tom) Eggebeen, Sidney J. (Heidi) Helmus, Kathleen (Glenn) Scripsema, Tom (Lori) Helmus, Bob D. (Marian) Helmus, Maria Rodriguez (Tito) Vasquez, Lourdes (Ivan) Lancel; 24 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas (Carole) Holwerda; sisters-in-law, Nancy Holwerda, Elizabeth Holwerda.  The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 28, at 11:30 AM at Hillside Community Church, 1440 68th St. SE, Grand Rapids, 49508, with a visitation prior to the service from 10:30 to 11:15 AM.  Rev. Ken Klett will officiate.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.  Memorial contributions in memory of Elaine may be made to Luke Society in Sioux Falls, SD.
