Lowell Thomas Jacobs passed into the arms of the Lord on September 5, 2025 at Holland Hospital. He was born October 18, 1935 in Ecorse, Michigan to Thomas and Iva (Bone) Jacobs. He graduated from Lincoln Park high school and went on to earn a degree from Michigan Tech and a masters degree from Kent State. His first job was at Packard Electric, a division of General Motors in Ohio, and then 24 years at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan. He moved to Holland in 1988 as Vice President of Quality at Prince Corporation. Lowell is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Suzi (Gillespie) Jacobs; daughters, Debby (Shawn) Gherity, Leslie (Mark) Stowe, Patti (George) Whitehead, Lois (Howard) Cutler, and Beth (Scott) Hitchcock; grandchildren, Chad Shomo, Troy (Olivia) Shomo, Jenny (Doug) Ouhl, Peter (Sarah) Whitehead, Cate (Jeff) Baxter, Patrick (Erica) Whitehead, Alison (Andrew) Santellan, Andrew (Laura) Hitchcock, Emma (Milo) Stevens, and Rachel Cutler; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Iva Jacobs; sister and brother-in-law, Judie (Jim) Davidson; granddaughter Jamie Stowe; and great grandson, Robert Shomo. Lowell enjoyed spending time with his family as well as restoring old cars, woodworking and singing in Evergreen Commons Chorale. He spent many years of his retirement volunteering at the Holland Rescue Mission and Evergreen Commons. He was kind and funny, smart and innovative; there was no problem or item he couldn’t fix. He held an unwavering faith in the Lord his whole life that was clearly evident in every encounter with him. Together with his wife, he offered hospitality and generosity to everyone he met, truly living out Christ’s command to love one another. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Grandville Church of Christ, 3725 44th St. SW, Grandville, Michigan. |
